Photographer, creative coach, artist, and teacher – each of these describes ImageWerks co-founder Kathy Strauss. With over 35 years of design experience, including working as a designer and art director for World Bank and USAID, she brings expertise in design, photography, project management and creative solutions for worldwide regions.

The camera is an extension of how Kathy sees the world. She looks to connect her imagery to her viewer – showing a right brain person’s view of the world. From that simple blade of grass, to the stark graphic look of a building, to the sparkling eyes of the bride and groom, she captures beauty with her lens. She knows she’s done her job when a person looks at her photographs and they know they’ve “seen a story.”

In 2011, Kathy received her certification as a Creatively Fittm Coach. She finds this certification dovetails perfectly into her photography and art. She has been teaching for years – but loves to share her artist’s view of life through her Creative Coaching classes. Through interactive exercises, these classes help others to understand the importance of creative vision and perspective. Workshop participants learn to bring creative thinking into their lives and workplace, tapping into their stores of innovation and enthusiasm for life. Her programs are for students, educators, businesses, nonprofits, senior citizens and military personnel. Some of the workshops she teaches are: Wine, Nibbles & Scribbles, Storytelling with Photos, Your Artist Within, Painting Your Power, and Making Your Mark.

Kathy is also an associate artist in Gallery 902 at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA where she exhibits her work and is an instructor through the Workhouse Institute & ArtStar camps. In addition to the Workhouse, you can find her teaching and exhibiting at art festivals and galleries throughout the Washington Metropolitan area and mid-Atlantic. Her Creative Coaching has taken her all over North America.

She also sits on the board of directors for Project Mend-A-House, Prince William Library Foundation, and the Patient/Family Advisory Council at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. She is a graduate of Leadership Prince William, Class of 2010, and remains active in the alumni program.
