One of my clients knew that I did acrylic painting and thought a perfect present would be a painted portrait of her late brother-in-law. He had passed before his son was born and his family never had a photo session or other type of heirloom art piece done. Now, I love doing pet paintings—they bring me joy when I’m bringing a fun furry face to life again… but, a person? I told myself that the last time I did a portrait painting was in college… but, I was an experienced photographer & artist… so, why not bring my “creative chops” to the easel & create a beautiful heirloom for the family.

I was given a photo scan and a cellphone photo. I had to bring both images together so I could properly “see” how the painting would look laid out. Once I was happy with that—I transferred the photo image to canvas & started painting.

Was my client happy… yes! She cried tears of joy!
